Bayern focusing only on Augsburg amid busy schedule – Kompany

Bayern Munich is focusing solely on Friday's Bundesliga match against Augsburg amid a busy fixture list over the next 11 days, head coach Vincent said.

The league leaders will be without midfielder Joao Palhinha and striker Mathys Tel, who suffered injuries during international matches with Portugal and France respectively, while goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is struggling with a rib cage injury and racing to get fit.

Bayern have a busy schedule ahead after their clash with Augsburg, with a Champions League match at home to Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday, ahead of a trip to Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga in just over a week's time.

They conclude their 11-day, four-match series with the DFB-Pokal last 16 match at home against Bayer Leverkusen on December 3.

“We miss Palhinha and Mathys Tel also suffered a blow when he played for the national team,” Kompany told a press conference on Thursday. “The only fear we have as coaches is that players will leave and come back injured.

“We are playing against Augsburg. It is important that it is only about the next match. We want to deliver the performance we did before the international break. It is only about Augsburg and only this step is important for me today.”

Max Eberl about the recent international break

“After an international break you don't necessarily want to play first. However, the boys are used to this rhythm. The most important thing is that everyone stays fit. Especially after winter… pic.twitter.com/E4Kx8y9MKq

Kompany is in his first season in charge but knows expectations are high and the team must remain contenders in all three competitions until the new year.

“We are satisfied with the season we have played so far in all competitions, despite the two defeats in the Champions League,” Bayern sporting director Max Eberl said, referring to the 1-0 away defeat to Aston Villa and the 4 -1 defeat. at Barcelona.

“It's a new format and we're still getting to know it,” he added, as Bayern finished in 17th place in the play-offs.

“We have PSG, a special match, Leverkusen in the cup and Dortmund in the league. We want to start and win every match. That is our starting point.”

Leverkusen won their first domestic double last season but Bayern, desperate to regain their domestic dominance, are unbeaten in the Bundesliga and have quickly built a five-point lead over second-placed RB Leipzig.

The Bavarians have 26 points, while Leverkusen, who host Heidenheim on Saturday, are nine behind in fourth place. Dortmund welcomes Freiburg, who have dropped to seventh place with 16 points, while Leipzig travel to Hoffenheim.
