The Glazers have only invested £45m to Man Utd of their own money in 20 years

MANCHESTER UNITED fans have been shocked after discovering how much the Glazer family has put into the club.

The Glazers acquired a controlling stake in United almost twenty years ago, after taking over from Irish investors JP McManus and John Magnier.

They already owned about 30 percent of the club, but that increased to 57 percent when the deal was completed.

Scottish entrepreneur Harry Dobson subsequently transferred his share to increase the Glazers' ownership to 62 percent.

By June 2005 they owned 98 percent of the shares and control of Man Utd – much to the dismay of the fans.

Fast forward to 2024 and supporters are STILL dissatisfied with the American family.

Man Utd have been on a steady descent since Sir Alex Ferguson left Old Trafford in 2013.

Last season they had their worst ever Premier League season, finishing in eighth place with a negative goal difference.

But they managed to salvage a place in Europe by winning the FA Cup final against Manchester City in May.

Many fans have blamed the club's disastrous decline on the Glazers and their lack of investment.

And maybe they have a point.

A report from The Athletic has revealed that only £45 million in funding has come from the Glazers over the past 20 years.

Fans have been left furious as a result, with one person writing: “£45m over almost twenty years from the Glazers is absolutely criminal.”

By comparison, the owners of newly promoted Ipswich Town have invested £83 million in their club.

Southampton's owners have pumped £85 million into the Saints and Bill Foley has injected £93 million into Bournemouth.

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has continued to spend big since joining the club in 2022.

In just two years, the American billionaire and BlueCo have pumped a whopping £146 million into Stamford Bridge – more than three times the amount the Glazers have personally invested.

Man City's owners have also spent an eye-watering amount of money since taking over in 2008.

CFG have pumped £1.3 BILLION in funding into the club, and the Cityzens have certainly reaped the rewards.

In what may be considered the biggest surprise of the findings, Fulham boss Shahid Khan has invested £788 million of his own money in the Cottagers.

Not only has he continued to invest in the squad, he has also recently set aside a large chunk of money to develop part of Craven Cottage.

Similarly, Everton chief Farhad Moshiri has invested £750 million in the Toffees since 2016, most of which has gone into the club's new Bramley Moore Dock stadium.

Despite the lack of investment, Man Utd have tried to turn things around since the arrival of Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

The British billionaire bought a 25 percent stake in the club at the beginning of this year and has since taken over the football activities.

Ratcliffe has been a key figure behind some major changes at Old Trafford in recent times, including the sacking of Erik ten Hag and the arrival of new head coach Ruben Amorim.
