Palmer shocks McDonald’s staff as he rolls up at drive-through window
Cole Palmer has been enjoying his time off during the international break, with the England and Chelsea star making a surprise appearance at a McDonald's drive-through this weekend.
Palmer was one of 10 players dropped from Lee Carsley's England squad to face both Greece and the Republic of Ireland after the red-hot striker suffered a blow to the knee against Man United.
Palmer was joined by Bukayo Saka, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Ezri Konsa, Aaron Ramsdale, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Declan Rice, Jarrad Branthwaite and Levi Colwill in missing the two games after initially being called up.
However, Palmer chose to spend his free time in Manchester, where he is from, after coming through Manchester City's academy.
And one McDonald's got what must have been a shock when he saw Palmer rolling up to the window in the driveway.
Two staff members then took the opportunity to pose with the Premier League star and highlight his iconic 'cold' celebration.
It's been a busy few days for Palmer, who was also spotted seemingly doing his best to remain anonymous during Stockport's clash with Wrexham last weekend.
He was seen in the crowd, bundled up against the cold weather, hidden behind a ski mask as the League Two champions closed within one point of Wrexham, who were taken over in 2020 by movie stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
Palmer's form this season has been as exceptional as his debut season in the capital, with seven goals and five assists so far this season.
Yet England fortunately did not miss him this weekend, beating both Greece and the Republic of Ireland to secure promotion to the top Nations League groups.
Ollie Watkins and Curtis Jones scored Odysseas Vlachodimos' own goal in Athens on Thursday before putting in a five-star performance against Ireland on Sunday.
With the score level at half-time at 0-0, Harry Kane opened the floodgates from the spot against an Irish side down to 10.
Anthony Gordon and Conor Gallagher added two more to make it three in five minutes, before Jarrod Bowen and Taylor Harwood-Bellis added another pair as England romped to a 5-0 win.
