‘Talks a big game’… Paddy Pimblett details run-in with Colby Covington ahead of UFC 313

UFC star Paddy Pimblett and former Welterweight Title Challenger Colby Covington had a non-so-friendly recent run-in during a Power Slap event.

Paddy Pimblett is weeks away from the biggest fight of his UFC career against Michael Chandler on UFC 314. While in Las Vegas for a pre-fighting press conference to promote the coming card, Pimblett and Colby Covington crossed shortly after months of bad blood.

Pimblett and Chandler will collide in a five-round Co-Main event fight on UFC 314 next month. Pimblett returns to the cage for the first time since the completion of King Green on UFC 304 last July.

Covington, who plans a UFC Combackback after he fell to Joaquin Buckley in December, is known that it will disturb many feathers on the UFC grid. This includes Pimblett, who was especially critical about Covington for his pre-fight waste in Leon Edwards, while shared the spotlights on UFC 304.

Paddy Pimblett, Colby Covington intersections after years of online Taunts

During a recent vlog uploaded to his YouTube channel, Pimblett explained how he and Covington paths crossed in Las Vegas.

“We went to Power limp on Friday evening … walked past Colby Covington, he stared at the floor,” said Pimblett. “About a big game online, s – s are underwear personally.”

At the moment there are no published images of Pimblett and Covington's run-in at Power Slap 12. But it sounds like the two parties didn't have much or anything to say after their tense back and forth online.

Pimblett called only a few months ago to a goodweight collision with Covington, and refers to Covington as a substandard warrior at 170 pounds. In the same breath he called Conor McGregor, who did not fight since he injured his leg against Dustin Poirier on UFC 264.

Paddy Pimblett mocked Colby Covington's decision from Colby Covington to retire

Pimblett and Covington seem to have a common opponent in Poirier, who used to train with Covington at the American top team-Florida before the exit of Covington. Pimblett recently called Poirier an 'idiot' for his decision to retire after another appearance in the Octagon.

Rumor has that Poirier will be confronted with Max Holloway this summer for his pension fight, possibly in New Orleans. But from this letter nothing has been formally announced by the UFC.

Pimblett is out to earn credit and respect with a victory over Chandler next month. A victory would propel him in the lightweight title photo and bring him a step closer to a confrontation with UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev.

Poirier and Ilia Topuria are two names on the Pimblett hit list when he beats Chandler on UFC 314. Pimblett and Topuria almost came in a full fist fight while they share a map in London in 2022.

Pimblett is about to UFC Superstardom, a title that he could claim with an emphatic version against Chandler. But on the horizon a potential collision with Covington is possible if both parties are interested.
