“That’s the plan” – Real Madrid stalwart Dani Carvajal sets out return date

Dani Carvajal has been a big miss for Real Madrid since he tore his front cruciate ligament in October during a La Liga match against Villarreal. The club's captain of the club was immediately excluded for the rest of the season after he was forced to undergo surgery to restore the injury, although there is a chance that part can play because Los Blancos broke before the summer.

The Real Madrid season will be expanded because of their participation in the first edition of the new Revamped Club World Cup, which takes place in the United States between June and July. It was previously reported that Carvajal wants to participate in the tournament, and he has now made it clear during a recent interview.

Carvajal spoke with El Chiringuito (via MD) in recent days and he sketched his hope to return to Real Madrid before the Club World Cup started.

“The recovery is going very well, little by little. The challenge is to be back at the end of May, let's see if I can reach it. I wish (to play at the club World Cup).”

Carvajal, who could lose his place as Real Madrid's starting back because of the expected summer arrival of Trent Alexander-Arnold, has left a role in the position since his injury. Lucas Vazquez has been the regular starter in La Liga, but his poor defensive skills have led Federico Valverde to fill in during major competitions, and he will do this again in the first leg of the Champions League quarter against Arsenal.

As such there will be a desire for Carvajal to make his comeback as quickly as possible, but even if he is training again in May, he will have very little match fitness against the time the club World Cup comes.
