‘The ball doesn’t want to go in’ – Nunez feels goal drought down to ‘bad luck’

Darwin Nunez admitted that he was not “just as good as I should perform”, but the feeling has “the ball does not want to go” during his recent goals drought.

This season, the attacker of Liverpool scored only seven goals in 40 games in all games, including only one in his last 13 performances.

Nunez performs its 10.55 xg behind, while he has a modest shot conversion rate of 11.11%.

The struggles of the Uruguay International went on when he saw a penalty saved in the shooting that saw the Reds leave the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain.

Despite the leading of the Premier League with 12 points, the side of Arne Slot was defeated by Newcastle United in the EFL Cup final of last weekend, while they have a shock FA Cup defeat members against Championship Side Plylyle.

Nunez knows that he has to increase his performance levels, but believes that many of his difficulties for the goal have been purely to bad fortune.

“It has been a few tough few weeks personally,” he said. “These are moments that you go through in football.

“I am not someone who throws in the towel because I can't play; I'm going to fight to play every game. I know I don't perform as well as I should.

“It is difficult, because if you do it well or play well, your self -confidence changes. But the next game, you discover that you are not playing, and that gives you a feeling.

“But I always try to train to be healthy and help my teammates in any way; that is important. The ball does not want to go inside. I run a lot, play well and cannot score a goal. It's bad luck.”
