‘The Butcher’ vows to finish 18-fight veteran at UFC 310 before joking that he ‘can’t wait to smack’ one of his fans

The main card may dominate the headlines, but there will be some truly fantastic fights during the UFC 310 prelims, including Smith vs Reyes, Sterling vs Evloev and Luque vs Gorimbo.

However, there is one preliminary fight that everyone has circled as a potential 'Fight of the Night' candidate: the welterweight bout between a UFC veteran on a hot streak and a 'Butcher' looking to fight his way into the Top 15.

Bryan Battle promises to finish Randy Brown one way or another at UFC 310

Since dropping a unanimous decision to Rinat Fakhretdinov in 2022, TUF alumni Bryan 'The Butcher' Battle has powered through his UFC welterweight foes with three straight finishes in his last three fights.

This weekend, the fight returns to the octagon during the preliminaries of UFC 310 against promotional veteran Randy 'Rude Boy' Brown, who according to the flashy American is “the best name I've had so far.”

“He brings a lot of great things to the table; athletic guy, fast, has an unorthodox style, and he brings a lot of experience to the cage… That's the biggest advantage he has over me, experience and the people he faces in the cage.

“That said, he's just another obstacle for me to get through; another mountain to climb… Somehow I'll get him out of there. Period.”

UFC 310 comes just a few weeks after Battle's last appearance in the octagon, a second-round KO of Kevin Jousset, with some fans concerned about how the quick turnaround will affect his performance.

To his credit, Battle was keen to remind fans to “remember how I got into the UFC, I was in The Ultimate Fighter House. [where] I had to fight twice in two weeks.

“It's been a quicker turnaround since I've been in the UFC, but before I got into the UFC, I was trying to fight four times a year… I was like, 'Damn, that's a pretty quick turnaround,' but it's cool, I think great, incredibly sharp… Everything comes together perfectly at the right time.”

'The Butcher' Jokes He 'Can't Wait to Hit One of His Fans'

Battle earned an army of new fans after that last fight with Jousset when he fired up the UFC Paris crowd with his now infamous “You thought I was going to lose a fist fight to a French guy” speech.

“It really was a whirlwind,” Battle said of his newfound fame.

“It's been non-stop. It's been a blessing because everything I've been working for is really starting to come to fruition. I really have the opportunity to take my career to the next level, it was really cool.

“The fans have been great, the memes and Instagram reels have been crazy, there's a new one every day, so it's been a lot of fun.”

Still, there is one recurring meme that Battle hopes will come true after UFC 310; he would happily punch a fan jokingly, just as his coaches do for him before a fight.

“No, no, I'll wait for it,” Battle laughed with the media members, adding, “I can't wait to scare the hell out of a fan, you know what I mean, that would be funny like hell.

“Like I say, if they asked, you know what I mean; not in a mean way, but if someone says, “Hey, can you punch me,” I say, “Sure, just a punch.”

UFC 310 heads off from Las Vegas on Saturday, December 7 – Battle vs Brown is set for the preliminaries, so make sure you get there early to see 'The Butcher' go to work.
