“The club…” – Carlo Ancelotti clear on Real Madrid future

Tuesday's 3-0 defeat against Arsenal has again indicated speculation about the future of Carlo Ancelotti as the head coach of Real Madrid. The Italian arrived for criticism after the abject performance in the first stage of the quarter-final-equal game of the Champions League, and with Xabi Alonso supposedly waiting in the wings, the pressure was sustained.

Ancelotti is under contract in Real Madrid until the summer of 2026, and as he told the media during his press conference before the game (via Diario AS) prior to Sunday's game against Alaves, he does not expect the club to go before this date.

“I should not talk about things about my future, because the contract is quite clear. Whatever it is, it will be spoken at the end of the season. The club always supports me, especially in difficult times.”

Ancelotti was also asked about the problems that Vinicius Junior has had in recent weeks. Since the beginning of February, the 24-year-old has struggled for effectiveness in the last third part, with only three goals and three assists in 17 Real Madrid performances in all competitions.

“It's hard to say. Especially in the past few weeks there has been a general decrease, not only with individuals. We have admitted a lot in the last few games and that is where we have to put a brake. Especially when they are not as effective as usual at the top.”

Real Madrid will be desperate for Vinicius to return to form in the last weeks of the season, especially with three races on the line. Ancelotti will hope that the shape of the Brazilian improves Sunday's game against Alaves.
