In five days, Barcelona will start their La Liga campaign from 2025-26 with a trip to son Moix, where they will be dealing with Mallorca. But as things stand out, they will be for that match without a number of important players.
Robert Lewandowski will miss it because of an injury, while there are doubts about whether Dani Olmo will make it – because he also suffers from physical problems. Moreover, Barcelona still has to register several players, such as starting goalkeeper Joan Garcia and Marcus Rashford.
Garcia was brought in to be the new Barcelona starter among the sticks, but so far he is unable to play against Mallorca. Nevertheless, he is relaxed about the situation, as he told MD (via Semper Barca) after the victory of the Joan Gamper Trophy on Sunday at Como.
“I really felt at ease and happy. It is different from what I was used to, but I am well adapted. I just try to perform well in training every day, and if people talk about me well, that is great – I will continue to work in the same way.
“The club and my circle have both reassured me about registration. I am focused on my daily work, and I assume it will be done. Ter Stegen is our captain-we respect him all and if the problem with the club is resolved, it is better for everyone.”
Given that Marc-Andre ter Stegen is out of the future after a back operation, Barcelona has only one goalkeeper who is eligible for Mallorca on Saturday. Garcia, as well as Wojciech Szczesny, are not yet registered with La Liga, which means that Inaki Pena would be in goals at Son Moix if things are standing.
However, now that Stegen has agreed to sign the relevant documents with which Barcelona could register, Garcia should be registered in the coming days.
