Barcelona will be aiming to start 2025 on a high with success in the Spanish Super Cup, and Raphinha will be one of their focal points in Saudi Arabia. After missing Saturday's Copa del Rey win over Barbastro, the Brazilian winger will be available for Hansi Flick in Wednesday's semi-final against Athletic Club.
According to MD, Raphinha spoke about the possibility of Barcelona winning the first trophy of the season.
“A title gives confidence to every team. We are ready to fight for everything and we now have the opportunity at the beginning of the year. It will give us a lot of confidence for the season. We know the potential of the Athletic Club players, such as Nico and Inaki. We hope to play our best game both defensively and offensively.”
Raphinha also spoke about the big story surrounding Barcelona in recent weeks, namely the ongoing registration case with Dani Olmo and Pau Victor.
“It is a complicated situation and only those who are in this situation know what they are doing and decide their future. They have to wait and see what will happen. The club says that they are quite positive that everything will be resolved. But for Dani and Pau it is quite difficult to deal with this situation.
“We have to trust that this will be resolved quickly. Ultimately we get super positive messages and we have to wait. We know the same thing as you often do. We try to be calm so that we can do our work during the day. I hope that the people working on this will bring us quick solutions.”
Barcelona will not have Olmo or Victor against Athletic and it is expected that they will not be available if the Catalans reach the final on Sunday. That would be a big blow for Flick and his players, although their focus will be on the semi-finals for now.
