With Premier League clubs that make major upgrades to their attacking departments prior to what is invoiced as one of the most competitive top campaigns for decades, Sky Sports looks the strikers that can form this season …
No 9s and NO 10S have been the conversation of the summer and a lot of money has been spent on pursuing goals.
Chelsea hangs their hope on Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, Arsenal has all their eggs in the bikores -basket of Viktor Gyoke, while Man has become United Wild and have renewed their entire forward line by Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko.
Liverpool has also loaded at the front and splashes a sum of nine digits on Florian Wirtz before he pushes the total expenditure beyond the £ 250 million with a £ 79 million edition on Hugo Ekitike.
And we still have to draw a conclusion about the Alexander Isak Saga, with potential reimbursement for the Newcastle Vooruit to probably darken everything we have seen so far. So, who wisely spent? And how will every team best use its new weapons in the Premier League Glory hunt?
Man Utd: Cunha, Mbeumo, Sesko
After their worst season in 51 years, the only way to man United and their shiny new three-fold attack, formed in the form of Ruben Amorim's famous 3-4-2-1 system.
Amorim has always maintained, given the choice, he would not have accepted the non -enviable task of waking the most successful club of English football from his decade -long Daze halfway through a season if the proposal had not been 'now or never'.
What followed was fairly disastrous: most defeats (18), the least points (42) and the least goals (44) in the Premier League history of the club. But now, with a fully pre-season for its specific style and the tools that make it succeed, to give, can we expect a revival?
Mbeumo and Sesko are exciting additions. Both had offers from other clubs and still opted for Man United, despite no participation in European competition for the first time in 11 years and not a title since 2013.
Sesko hit 21 goals last season in all competitions for RB Leipzig and ended with 39 in 87 performances in general. His pace, movement and sharp finish should fit in with Amorim's smooth attack, where Mbeumo and Cunha do the creative work.
Some discouraging early luminaires, with Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea in their opening of five games, will emphasize the tests that theory. It is clear that all three of the family tree have proven – each is a clear improvement compared to the blissful Rasmus Hojlund – but whether they offer the right balance between creativity for target threat will have to be assessed at a later date. It is sufficient to say, 44 is not a difficult count to beat.
Liverpool: Wirtz, Ekitike
Most believe that both Wirtz and Ekitike are the real deal, despite their relatively modest age. The last one scored 15 goals and assisted eight more in 33 Bundesliga matches for Eintracht Frankfurt last season, while Wirtz just looks terribly easy to play football.
In the past two years, the German International has landed 67 goals involvement in 75 games in all competitions for Bayer Leverkusen, with an equally efficient distribution of 34 goals to 33 assists.
Both are a model ahead for fast transitions and have the opportunity to play between the lines, ready as a supplement to the already abundant attacking wealth of Liverpool. The eyes of Mohamed Salah must be lit when Wirtz walked through the door at Melwood – a fast, professional, progressive playmaker with shades of Kevin De Bruyne? Yes please.
Expect aggressive counter pressure in Arne Slot Style.
Chemistry between Wirtz and Ekitike already shows an excellent promise. This is an ominous development in the evolution of the established champions of Slot.
Arsenal: Gyokees
Let's face it, Arsenal has been fudding for years and has succeeded in one way or another to get away with the score of sufficient goals to meet successive second place thanks to the Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard sparkle. But not nearly enough for a title.
Each transfer window teased a big signature without ever making that promise. So far.
Gyokees “will destroy defenders,” Mikel Arteta was on last weekend. Perhaps the fact that he received the iconic #14 -shirt from Thierry Henry is intentionally ominous. Just like the legendary Frenchman, Gyokees thrives within the width of the posts. He has the desire to stay on the last rule, complete with intimidating physicality and current force.
An attacker who can charge through defenses and attacks can accelerate – scoring fast breaks 23 times last year – will help the fate of Arsenal enormously. And the most important thing is that no player in Europe's top eight divisions corresponded to the 39 league goals of Gyokees for Sport.
In fact, in his two seasons in Portugal, Gyokeres erling songs at Haaland level: 79 goals in 83 games in the Primeira Liga and Champions League, which proves that he might be very well the missing piece in Arsenal's Titlejagingsdroom.
Chelsea: Delap, Pedro
The willingness of Chelsea to give up large sums of cash is a staple from the transfer market since Todd Boehly took a controlling interest at Stamford Bridge just over three years ago.
In the immediate aftermath of the introduction of the PSR rules of the Premier League, they were the only club that kept the magic of the transfer window alive. Now others have overtaken, but we still thank Boehly for connecting the intrigues gorge.
And yet the newest Spree from Chelsea is even more interesting, such as newcomers Delap and Pedro Jostle for First Choice Striker. The Brazilian is demonstrably more mobile and more dynamic than Delap, but has trouble staying injury -free in the last 12 months.
His versatility about a smooth front line will nevertheless be useful for Enzo Maresca, who could use Pedro as a second striker behind the former Ipswich goalkeeper if he wishes – or even on the wing.
Delap has already shown that he is a good ally of the greatest possession of Chelsea, Cole Palmer. The couple was productive for the Manchester City youth teams in recent years.
Pedro and Delap, both on the Scoreblad while Chelsea AC Milan had beaten in a recent presidential season, registered a combined 30 target contributions in the Premier League (22G, 8a) last season and that kind of firepower can maintain a meaningful title tax – at least outside of Christmas, the last term of Chelsea.
Man City: Cherki
Pep Guardiola claimed that he did not want to change in Manchester City halfway through the disastrous collapse last season, but that seems to be what he has. City grew up in January and invested further this summer.
Rayan Cherki has drawn the most excitement, not least because of comparisons with one Lionel Messi – who may have just as much to do with his short stature as his impressive close ball -control, but any association with the great Argentinian must be considered beneficial.
A messi-like capacity to open a competition is what was recorded last season in a glimpse for Lyon, especially noticeable in Europa League versions, with 12 target contributions from 11 starts.
Of course, City has not signed any other tent no. 9, they have Haaland, which will be stimulated by the addition of Cherki to supplement his own targeting habits as a city bid to earn themselves back in the title photo. Things have just become interesting.
