Arsenal is from the Champions League and can no longer win a trophy from a season that promised so much.
But that does not mean that Mikel Arteta's side has nothing to play for.
With Man City who finds a form in third place and now only three points behind the Gunners, the prospect of Pep Guardiola that his record ends of the Gunners in every season he has managed in England is retained.
Although they have had a number of memorable nights in Europe, the men of Arteta could hardly be out of shape in the Premier League.
They have only won three of their last ten games, allowing Liverpool to walk to the title.
However, there is a greater danger of the lurking than just wounded pride if an overwhelming end of the season Arsenal is unable to manage a second placed finish.
That's because there is still the possibility to completely miss the Champions League football.
This season it should be easier than any other to guarantee a place in Europe Elite Club competition.
That is because the top five is eligible for the Champions League as a result of the Premier League that is one of the two strongest in the European competition this season.
But Arsenal still has to do with City, Newcastle, Chelsea, Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa all able to catch up.
The next game of Arsenal is a trip to newly crowned champions Liverpool, where they hope to break an Anfield duck that lasted 13 years.
Lukasz Podolski and Santi Cazorla were the scorers when Arsenal last won in Liverpool in September 2012.
They then have the most important home game with Newcastle in fourth place, which are on 63 points.
If they win that competition, they would reach 70 points and automatically qualify for the Champions League.
Aston Villa, in the seventh, is currently at 60 points and could not catch that scenario.
Sixth posted Nottingham Forest, at 61 points, and fifth placed Chelsea, at 63 points, still have to play each other, which means that only one of the two teams can reach 70 points.
Fortunately for Arsenal, they are then confronted with a last day to a Southampton side that goes down in the Premier League history as a joint-lechtste if they are unable to pick up another point in their last three games.
If Arsenal can get two points from their matches against Liverpool, Newcastle and Southampton, that should be sufficient for the qualification of the Champions League.
That's because their goal difference is 12 goals better than Newcastle and Chelsea, 21 better than Nottingham Forest and 27 better than Aston Villa.
But if they pick up a point or less, it will open the door for all their rivals.
Aston Villa will have to win their three games against Bournemouth, Tottenham and Man Utd to have the chance to finish above Arsenal.
Although a point for the Gunners means that Nottingham Forest should also win their remaining three games to end above them.
