Real Madrid is protesting about what they think is an unjust decision not to change the officials for the Copa del Rey -Final, after referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea and Var Pablo Gonzalez Fuertes gave a press conference the day before. One of the most important topics was the criticism that referees receive.
The image of the aforementioned press conference came at the end of it, when the Burgo -Bengoetxea broke out in tears about the impact of the media criticism of him and his family. He had the following to say on Real Madrid TV and their smears against referees.
“I don't care; it is usually harmful to the criticism of the establishment and me. I have to look at myself in the mirror and know what I need to keep improving.”
He was later visibly hit.
'When your son goes to school and is told that his father is a' thief 'and cries at home, it is a real pain. What I do is try to inform my son to tell him that his father is honest, that he makes mistakes like any other athlete.
“It is not good, given what many of my colleagues go through, not only in professional football, but also in basic football. Let everyone think about where we want to go, what we want from sports and football.”
In the meantime, Gonzalez Fuertes was much more direct about Real Madrid TV and the videos, and noted that the referees would go together to take action.
“It's not just the videos, but the consequences they wear. We have been seeing for a while now that anonymous people insult or threaten on social media, uncontrolled by someone. Community managers on official social media are constantly attacking our community. There are statements or actions that give rise to the belief that we are unfair.”
“And the problem is not that it happens, it is the consequences. Communicators or journalists talk about thefts and swear words, and we do not know which fan reaches that message. Then the frustration is paid by the boy or girl who takes the whistle and calls a youth game.
In recent years there have been various incidents that referees have attacked in the lower departments and in youth football, something that has increased. Several have been admitted to the hospital.
“There is no doubt that we will start with measures, more serious than they are currently being taken. We are not going to continue to allow what is happening. In a few days you will hear what is coming. This will make history. We will not continue what we tolerate with it.”
This was considered a threat by Real Madrid, as it described in a statement, and proof that the referee body is not impartial. In the meantime, they have asked that both referees will be removed from the game, something that the RFEF has decided that they will not do that. Los Blancos is said to be considering the final now, although no decision has been made.
