‘The reality is it’s 2-0 to Katie Taylor’… Eddie Hearn on whether we’ll ever see a trilogy fight against Amanda Serrano
For the second time asking, Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano made history last weekend; with their highly anticipated rematch on Netflix setting the record for the most-watched professional women's sporting event in American history.
While that's an outstanding achievement for two of the greatest role models in all of women's sports, the controversial nature of their rematch on the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson card leaves the door open for a third and final showdown.

Eddie Hearn weighs in on the trilogy match between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano
Katie Taylor won a razor-thin split decision over Amanda Serrano in their first history-making fight of 2022, before going the distance again in the co-main event of Paul vs Tyson last Friday evening.
Despite the Irish superstar ultimately retaining her undisputed Super Lightweight tiles with the unanimous decision victory, a series of controversial headbutts has left fans desperate to see the pair face each other for a third time.
Speaking on the new DAZN show, Ariel x Ade, Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn stated that the likelihood of a trilogy depends more on Serrano's future ambitions than Taylor's.
“It probably depends on MVP – I mean, look, Katie Taylor is on Matchroom and DAZN, and remember, DAZN made that fight happen, it was important that we did that because it was a great opportunity for Katie Taylor.”
Despite his own personal differences with Most Valuable Promotions, Hearn admitted that the team did an excellent job promoting and hosting a historic showdown between two of the best fighters in the world.
“She was rewarded very well financially for that fight, the crowd was incredible and despite our differences with MVP I think Nakisa [Bidarian] and Jake and MVP did a fantastic job on the show – fantastic job.
That said, when it comes to the possibility of a third fight between Taylor and Serrano, Hearn believes it is his fighter who has the single most important influence.
“I saw Nikisa's interview today with Off the Ball and he says, 'Nobody thought Katie won the fight, Amanda is the biggest star in boxing, and Katie isn't appreciated like Amanda Serrano' – I mean, it's not all relevant.
“The reality is they have their options, we have our options and it's 2-0 for Katie Taylor. I don't think Katie would have a problem with doing a third, but it won't just be disrespect. for Katie and her team to create one of the biggest fights in sports.
Netflix recently announced that more than 108 million viewers watched the event last Friday, making it the most streamed global sporting event ever. Taylor vs Serrano 2 was seen by around 74 million people, making it the most watched women's professional sporting event in US history.
“Commercially there is a great opportunity to do it again and the numbers; the response has been incredible, not just for women's boxing, but for boxing,” Hearn continued.
“To see such an audience calling in and tuning in… I certainly wouldn't rule out a third party [fight]I mean, Katie probably has three or four options [out there] right now and Amanda Serrano is definitely someone she would entertain.
Should a trilogy fight be made, there would certainly be some extra vitriol behind Serrano's punches after she mocked Taylor for the repeated head clashes.
