Although the rumors that Luis Diaz link to Barcelona seem to have become quiet thanks to their pursuit for the signature of Nico Williams, it seems that the Colombians are still on their way to Anfield this summer.
According to a recent report from well-placed sources, Bayern Munich is now investigating the opportunity to take the 28-year-old winger to the Bundesliga, and apparently also haunts Liverpool, which would give credibility to such news.
It is an interesting position of the Reds given that Diaz was only behind Mo Salah and Cody Gakpo in terms of his output in 2024/25.
Indeed, he gave the same number of assists as the Dutchman (five), and with 14 scored goals, only one shy of Gakpo was.
Known for his ability to touch teams on the counterattack, it is no surprise to understand that his 11 fast breaks were only improved by the Egyptian king, whose statistics openly believed.
Why does Liverpool want to release Diaz?
A shooting capacity of 59.6% is the best of all starting players from Liverpool, and it is just Salah (again) who beats his 18.9% shot conversion rate.
An 86% passing accuracy is neither the best or the worst in the team (although his 903 total fits do not place him favorably compared to teammates), so one can rightly claim why Liverpool is thinking of the sale of Diaz in the first place.
Vincent Kompany already has some Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry as left wings, and Bryan Zaragoza is registered with De Baviers, although he will almost certainly leave before the start of the 2025/26 campaign.
Coman and Gnabry played considerably less football than Diaz in 24/25 and at that time have remarkably comparable records as each other.
The six goals of the first and four assists came in 30 games, of which 15 as a starter, and he was also immersed 14 times. Gnabry played, started and was immersed in exactly the same number of matches – which suggests Kompany entered a job share – and was slightly more productive than his contemporary with seven goals and six assists.
The statistics of Coman and Gnabry are remarkably comparable
With five separate bodies to hit the woodwork, Gnabry was the unfortunate of Bayern's entire team, while his five fast breaks simply the three shaded Coman's three, although both are still far behind Diaz in this respect.
Shooting accuracy is again relatively the same – 45% for Gnabry and 52.8% for COMAN, with shot conversion of 13.2% and 11.8% respectively.

Pass -voltage is a healthy 88.5% (COMAN) and 85.8% (Gnabry), although one area where we are starting to see a difference in the Bayern pair with regard to their defensive responsibilities.
56.5% of the tackles won by Gnabry is the second worst show in the Bayern Squad, while Coman's 72.2% is the third best.

Four successful air matches from 18 attempt is a clear indicator that Gnabry's main capacity is not the best, with his contemporary winning almost half of his (15 of 31).
Defense is also not really the power of Diaz – 67.4% Tackle Success, 15 air duels won 56 attempt at – but he is clearly a more explosive attacker.
Will Coman of Gnabry Fund Diaz purchase?
At the age of 28 he is also a little more junior of the trio in terms of age, who can also count for something.
What is not clear at this stage is the compensation that Liverpool could demand for the player and also whether Kompany from Coman or Gnobry will sell to finance a possible purchase.

Since Diaz seemed to accept that he could be transferred to Barcelona at a certain stage, it would follow that the player understands that, for whatever reason, his time in Liverpool will soon end.
That is the life of a football player, and if and when he is transferred elsewhere, Reds Manager, Arne Slot will undoubtedly be frank and honest why he allowed the Colombian to continue.
From Bayern's point of view, buying best-in-class is necessary for every position if they want to stay first in Germany, but perhaps even more important, to give themselves a better chance of winning the Champions League.
Only three times this century have they been successful in the Premier Club competition of European football (2001 vs Valencia, 2013 vs Borussia Dortmund and 2020 vs Paris Saint-Germain), and that is long enough for a club of Bayern's stature.
Bayern's Delightful front three when Diaz signs up
Undoubtedly they need more than Luis Diaz to claw back to the top table, with respect, although there will not be too many teams that could live with a front three of the Colombian, Harry Kane and Michael Olise.
That is a delicious prospect in someone's book.
