The Fight Week of UFC 318 is almost entirely focused on one man and one fight, while Poirier is preparing to close his memorable MMA career 18 years after his pro debut.
With the undisputed lightweight title that he missed, including last year when Poirier was submitted by Islam Makhachev, 'The Diamond' will close his MMA office period by fighting for the symbolic BMF belt.
In the run-up to Poirier's pension fight against Max Holloway, the home favorite received his flowers by a large number of fellow hunters, fans and experts.

In conversation with UFC commentator Brendan Fitzgerald during the present event on Friday in New Orleans, Theo von Vooren looked ahead to say goodbye to his good friend in their home.
The comedian had nothing but positive words for Poirier, described 'the diamond' as his 'hero' and explained what he means for Louisiana.
“I mean, Dustin, he is my hero. People have heroes and he has been a hero for my life,” Von said.
“One thing that is great about Dustin is that he has fought long enough that you see who he is as a person. And at the moment everyone just loves Dustin for whom he is, right?
“I don't care if he wins, loses – I don't care if he goes outside and just makes a jammalaya in the ring, it doesn't matter,” Von went on. “People love Dustin for him. We love Dustin Poirier in this state. He is our champion.
“I personally feel lucky that I can just be close enough to someone like that. He has a big heart, man.”

Von has contributed to one of the most emotional moments during the last Vechtweek van Poirier as UFC -Athlete.
While 'The Diamond' has largely kept his emotions under control and focused on the task against Holloway, ESPN MMA Poirier had pension letters read from some of the nearest people in his life.
In addition to his old coach Mike Brown, manager and a former training partner, Von wrote some moving words for Poirier.
“Do I have to continue?” A tear -eyed Poirier asked when the emotions started to get the best of him.
“I want to keep this,” he added.
