Hansi Flick was happy with Barcelona's Never-Give-up attitude when they came from behind to achieve a 4-2 victory over Atletico Madrid on Sunday.
Julian Alvarez and Alexander Sorloth had given Atletico a 2-0 lead against the 70th minute, but Barcelona Groef Deep to claim a huge comeback victory.
Ferran Torres scored twice off the couch, with Robert Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal who were also on the score sheet to send Barcelona back to the top of the table.
Barca is at points with Real Madrid, with a match in hand, and moves four points free from Atletico, who are third in LaLiga.
It is the first time that they have avoided the defeat in four consecutive road races (W3 D1) against Madrid parties in the top flight since December 2019 (under Ernesto Valverde), with Flick who supervises that run.
“After we dropped 2-0, we had to show our mentality, and we didn't give up,” said Flick.
“I am happy for the team, the club and the fans. We showed a great attitude, and that's why we won the game.
“They never give up. It has been incredible. I am very proud of them. At the moment we have faith in how to play. And if we make a mistake, they use it. We are really great attacking, and I think we were the better team today.”
Torres, who came up in the 67th minute, has now scored seven goals in LaLiga this season and has scored more than once in a league match for the first time since January 2024, when he scored a Hattrick against Real Betis.
Barcelona has now benefited from 15 goals from replacements in the competition this season, with Flick full praise for the impact of the Spaniard.
“Players who come from the bank always do well; and Ferran is a player who gives 100%, like all substitutes, and he does it every training session,” Flick added.
“But this is what everyone who is not in the starting line -up does. We will do our best to the end.”
