‘They should all retire’… Dana White implores 3 UFC veterans should retire following disappointing losses at UFC 310

There were several UFC veterans competing at UFC 310 on Saturday and unfortunately, all three lost their respective fights, leaving Dana White begging to finally call it a day.

With UFC 310 being the final PPV of 2024, the promotion opted to stack the card from top to bottom, meaning several veterans were on the bill, which ended disappointingly.

Dana White's Contender Series has grown in popularity and become the top promotional source for attracting new talent, meaning there have been more roster cuts this year than ever before.

Clay Guida, Chris Weidman and Anthony Smith all lose their UFC 310 fights

The night before the veteran trio started, former UFC lightweight contender Clay Guida. The 43-year-old took on Chase Hooper, who has won four fights in a row since moving up to 155 pounds last year.

In this battle there was a seventeen year age difference, which caused concern from the start. 'The Carpenter' Guida has always been known for his relentless pressing and intense cardio, but he didn't get the chance to show that against 'The Dream'.

The 25-year-old secured himself an armbar victory in the very first round, with this match showcasing the two different sides of an MMA journey, with Hooper now cementing himself as a future contender in the lightweight division.

Oddly enough, still on the early prelims portion of the card, former middleweight champion Chris Weidman followed suit.

'The All-American' was scheduled to face Eryk Anders at UFC 309 in his home state of New York, but just a few hours before their fight, Anders pulled out due to food poisoning. Fast forward to UFC 310, and Anders scored the TKO finish over the 40-year-old in round two.

The last veteran to compete on the card was former light heavyweight title challenger, Anthony Smith, as he took on the returning Dominick Reyes.

Fans have been calling for 'Lionheart' to retire for some time now, and this was reinforced on Saturday when he was knocked down by Reyes in the second round.

Disturbingly, Reyes revealed at the UFC 310 post-fight press conference that Smith put his hands down during the fight and told Reyes to punch him in the face because “he wanted to feel something.”

“There was a point in the first round where he put his hands down and said, 'Hit me in the face'… and that's my job, right,” Reyes said.

Dana White is calling for Guida, Weidman and Reyes to all retire after UFC 310

Despite all losing their fights, none of the three fighters have officially stated that they will retire, which has raised concerns not only from the fanbase, but also from UFC CEO Dana White.

'They're all retiring tonight. They should all retire tonight,” White suggested at the UFC 310 post-fight press conference.

The UFC boss then got relatively excited by a member of the media asking him what he thought of Kron Gracie's performance against Bryce Mitchell, while White felt like he was angling for him to 'beat all the fighters' .

“So you were like, 'What do you think of Weidman and this guy and that guy?', I told them to retire. “How about tonight Kron?”, I don't like the way you're leading me down this road, I know what you're doing, you know the answer to the question but you just want me to say it or something.

“You say, 'Kron looked limited, what do you think?', do you have anything positive or do you want me to discuss everyone on the card tonight?” White continued.

Despite this, the majority of the UFC fanbase agrees with White that Guida, Weidman and Smith should all retire after their respective careers.
