Real Madrid star Thibaut Courtois has opened the door to a possible return to the Belgian national team.
Courtois is currently eighth on the all-time list for the Red Devils with 102 caps.
However, following his decision to leave the squad in August 2024, the experienced stopper has not added to his tally.
Courtois' ongoing disagreement with head coach Domenico Tedesco is behind his call-up as the situation between the two has not yet been resolved.
National team director Peter Willems traveled to Madrid in November for talks with Courtois as all parties strive for a solution.
Tedesco previously hinted he is interested in a reunion and Courtois has now added his voice to an international return.
“Obviously I hope to play for Belgium again, either to say goodbye or to play well again,” he told CNN via Mundo Deportivo.
“I would really like to play in the World Cup, but we will see what happens, it is not easy.”
Belgium are next in action in the UEFA Nations League play-offs in March against Ukraine, before qualifying for the 2026 World Cup begins in June against North Macedonia and Wales.
