Cristiano Ronaldo added fuel to suggestions that he could leave Al-Nassr after the conclusion of the Saudi Pro League season, as he wrote on social media: “This chapter is over”.
Ronaldo scored the opening goal in the last match of Al-Nassr of 2024-25 against Al Fateh, who came from behind twice to achieve a 3-2 victory over the Stefano Pioli team.
Al-Nassr finished third behind Champions Al-Eittihad and second place Al-Hilal, the qualification for the AFC Champions League Elite 2025-26 failed.
Ronaldo had already been associated with a transfer, and the worst finish of Al-Nassr since he arrived in 2022-23 will do little to calm that speculation.
FIFA president Gianni Infantino recently claimed that Ronaldo had held conversations with a number of teams involved in the renewed Club World Cup, which starts on 14 June.
Ronaldo went to social media after the defeat of Al-Nassr on Monday and said in a cryptic post: “This chapter is over. The story? Still written. All grateful.”

Moroccan side Wydad AC and Brazilian Giants Botafogo are two participants in the World Cup club that are linked to Ronaldo.
Ronaldo won the Saudi Pro League Golden Boot for the second consecutive season with 25 goals, after he has scored 35 times on the last campaign of the goals.
Since he made his debut for Al-Nassr in January 2023, Ronaldo has scored Meer Saudi Pro League goals than any other player, with 74 in 77 games.
That brings him 27 free from his closest competitor, with Aleksandar Mitrovic 47 times for Al-Hilal at the time.
The goals of Ronaldo come from a total expected goals (XG) of 67.07, on average every 90.62 minutes – the best ratio of each player in double digits in that wingspan.
