Micky van de Ven believes that Tottenham “deserves” to win trophies while they keep an eye on the Europa League Glory on Wednesday.
Spurs has passed a miserable domestic campaign, which is currently 17th in the Premier League with only one match to play, while they lost in the semi -final of the EFL Cup in Liverpool before they made an early exit of the FA Cup in the same week.
However, they still have the chance to win their first trophy since 2008, and to go into the process in the Champions League qualification when they are confronted with Manchester United in the Europa League final.
The showpiece takes place 17 years and 86 days of their EFL Cup triumph, while their last major European title was the UEFA Cup 1984 under Keith Burkinshaw, 40 years and 363 days ago.
“It will of course be a big thing, because everyone knows that when you become a member of Tottenham, you spend the words of:” Ah, you're not going to win a trophy, you'll be trophy -free for the rest of your career, “said Van de Ven, as quoted in The Guardian.
“All the guys who came here were like:” We're going to change something about this club. “
“It was the Gaffer, and it was the whole team that said,” We're going to come here and change something “. For us it is now the task of letting this happen in Bilbao.”

Tottenham has won the UEFA Cup/Europa League twice before (1972, 1984), while the victory would see them on Wednesday will be the second English club that won three times, together with Liverpool.
Although their form of competition has been questioned, Spurs won nine of their 14 games in the Europa League (D3 L2), their most ever victories in one campaign in the large European competition.
For Ange Postecoglou, who claimed that he “always wins things in my second year” earlier this season, the future will remain uncertain and they could be thrown in more doubt.
But Van de Ven says that, together with the rest of his teammates, he wants to get the trophy for the Australian.
“We have been behind the Gaffer since the first day since he went here,” added Van de Ven.
“He showed his quality; he brought us to a European final. Of course he gets a lot of doubt from the media, and we see these things.
“But I think he has proven that all you are wrong, and we are in a European final, so hopefully we can cancel the trophy. Not only for us but also for him.
“We all know that we are playing for a big club. This club deserves trophies. That is the truth. If you look at the quality in the team, we deserve a trophy. It has been a difficult season, but we can end this perfectly by winning a prize.”
