‘This isn’t a coincidence’ – Laporta gives fiery response to La Liga statement

While Barcelona traveled to Madrid for their Copa del Rey Semi-final second stage against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday, La Liga published a statement that would dominate the headlines. They confirmed that the salary limit of the Blaugrana was dramatically reduced, so that their plans for the coming summer were confused – according to Barcelona President Joan Laporta this was no coincidence.

La Liga's statement explained that Barcelona would not include the sale of € 100 million of the lease to 475 VIP chairs in their salary limit calculations, something that throws the assets of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor to continue playing in the air this season. The decision of the High Sports Committee is indeed expected on the controversial registration business.

Speaking for lunch between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid directors, Laporta explained that a reaction came from the Blaugrana.

“As for the letter from La Liga, we see it as an attempt to damage the image of the club and go against the interests of FC Barcelona. Of course, the club will respond through the legal services that the letter from La Liga will respond thoroughly. We will respond in the strongest possible way,” he told Sport by Madrido, while De Bleudo.

Atletico President Enrique Cerezo stated that they just had to respect the current statement about Olmo, which will not play tonight due to injury. Laporta continued to present an agenda against Barcelona.

“It is three months since I said that the registrations of Olmo and Pau Víctor were correctly executed and all of the requirements of the RFEF and La Liga followed, and that remains true.”

“I feel that this is not a coincidence. Today we play a final, and I hope it is a great spectacle. Such controversies are no coincidence

It is far from the first time that Laporta has implied a Vendetta against the Blaugrana about the institutions of Spanish football, although without proof. The decision of La Liga seems to donate this summer about Barcelona's transfer plans and can even push them to sell a large star this summer. Before they even think about signing sessions, people like Frenkie de Jong, Robert Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal are in contract discussions with Barcelona and their deals should be registered.
