Thomas Frank has labeled Ange Postecoglou a Tottenham legend while in his first interview he spoke since he was appointed as his successor at the club.
Postecoglou was dismissed by Tottenham despite leading the club to their first trophy in 17 years after lifting the Europa League in May.
The former Brentford -Baas has since been confirmed as his replacement and now wants to build on the “Foundation” made by Postecoglou, while the DANE is preparing for his first taste of Champions League football as a result of the Triumph against Manchester United in Bilbao.
In his first interview with the internal media team of Spurs, Frank thanked his predecessor for his work at the club and insisted that he would “be a legend in Tottenham” forever.
“I think Ange has done something special. He will be a legend in Tottenham forever,” said Frank.
“It is important to understand that we are all on the shoulders of others. I am going into the built foundation and his coaching staff, and I am very modest about that. I will do my utmost to continue the great work he has.
“The feeling, the excitement, the joy and happiness in the faces of the fans, the photos were 'wow'. Hopefully we can create more of those moments. That will be the ultimate dream: doing that and build on it.”
Despite completing the interview with a nod to the past, Frank's Focus is firmly on the future.
The 51-year-old spent seven years in Brentford and was regularly connected to the vacant Premier League roles, such as Manchester United and Aston Villa, during his time there, but has now discussed why the job at Tottenham was so tempting.
Frank added: “It's a good team. It is an exciting, huge club with a huge potential. So it's just super, super exciting.
“I had very good conversations and meetings with [Daniel Levy, Vinai Venkatesham, and Johan Lange] Where we discussed everything in depth – details about the club structure, processes – and of course I came up with my opinion about things, how I saw it, my ideas and the way I want to do things and how I try to build a team and a club.
“There will be ups and downs – at the moment it is a fairy tale. Everyone is happy, the sun is shining, it's fantastic.
“We have not played a game yet. Hopefully we will win a lot. We will work very hard every day to ensure that we make so many magical moments for the fans and put them together and at the end of the season we had a very good season.”
Frank's first competitive games in the lead
Tottenham's Premier League seas opener against Burnley only comes three days after the UEFA Super Cup match from Spurs against Paris-Saint-Germain.
The match in Udine, Italy, on August 13, Frank's first competitive game is in charge, since the Europa League winners are taking on Champions League holders PSG.
The DANE is then confronted with a discouraging first game while Spurs will go to Manchester City on August 23 on August 23.
After a home game against Bournemouth on August 30, the next match Frank's first London Derby will be in charge when Tottenham West Ham will visit on 13 September.
