Real Madrid goes in the second stage of their round of 16 Champions League collision with Atletico Madrid who has avoided the worst of a recent injury crisis, but the season takes a heavy toll on their stars. Los Blancos came across the line against Rayo Vallecano this weekend, but three of their attacking stars did not feel 100% at the end of the game.
The most striking was Jude Bellingham, who tied his calf late, and while he continued, Carlo Ancelotti was picked up shortly thereafter. The Italian manager told the press after the game that Bellingham was not an injury to Atletico, but Cadena Ser explains that he was one of the three players who ended the game with discomfort.
Brazilian duo Rodrygo goes and Vinicius Junior also ended with pain. The first has a hand injury after he had accidentally left after he fell to the ground, while Vinicius has his toe on his right foot slight injury. Nor is they expected to miss the Madrid Derby, but it is further proof of the physical toll this season it is for Real Madrid.
Fede Valverde, Antonio Rudiger and Thibaut Courtois are all expected to start on Wednesday evening in the Metropolitano. Valverde and Courtois have also been nursing in recent weeks, while Rudiger was made sick during the weekend.
These issues are of course on top of the long -term problems that Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao keep out of effect, but a number of stars seem to make more small problems not to keep them at their best. Rudiger has pain in his knee, while Eduardo Camavinga has also had to deal with a back problem that makes him not freely inhabited as they would like. Given the packaged calendar, Ancelotti had little opportunity to let them rest.
