Tigres confirm €10m transfer agreement with Atletico Madrid

This week Atletico Madrid closed the signing sessions of Alex Baena and Matteo Rugeri, while Rodrigo Riquelme was sold to real betis. In the coming days, things will also be done, with one remarkable departure planned.

Earlier in the summer, Athleti agreed to let Angel Correa leave, and his 10 -year -old stay in the club will now be completed in the very near future. According to MD, he wants to join the Mexican side Tigres for compensation in the region of € 10 million.

And this news was confirmed by Tigres head coach Guido Pizarro, who spoke with the media for the past 24 hours (via Marca).

“I understand that Angel arrives on Wednesday. Only a few details are missing.”

Correa will be the fifth player who leaves the Diego Simeone team, after the departure of Riquelme, Axel Witsel, Cesar Azpilicueta and Reinildo Mandava. His exit will be the most difficult to turn for Athleti supporters, given the impact he has made since his move from San Lorenzo in 2015.

Correa is a cult hero at Atleti and has scored 88 goals in 469 performances in the red-and-white colors. His last strike for Los Colchoneros came in the penultimate round of the La Liga season 2024-25, while he scored in the 4-1 victory against Real Betis.

The departure of Correa leaves Julian Alvarez, Antoine Griezmann and Alexander Sorloth as striker options for Simeone. There is a wish that a replacement is signed, although the current priority is to win Cristian Romero, the top goal of the club for the Center-Back position.

It is still to look at who draws Athleti as their new striker, but the time for that will come. For now there will be reflection on the successful saying of Correa at the club.
