Todd Boehly breaks silence on Chelsea’s ‘surreal’ CWC win, eyes PL success

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has praised the club for their 'special victory' while he first spoke about the victory of their club World Cup.

He also thanked fans for 'pasting' with the side and claimed that 'nobody gave us the opportunity to beat PSG', while he added that the blues are a 'power to take into account' for the new Premier League season.

Chelsea dominated the winners of the Champions League and provided a hugely impressive 3-0 win in the Metlife Stadium in New Jersey thanks to Cole Palmer and Joao Pedro, to become world champions.

They receive around £ 90 million from the tournament and will be able to wear a golden 'World Champions' badge on their kits for the next four years.

The victory was the second trophy they have won since Boehly and Clearlake Capital bought the club for £ 4.25 billion in 2022 and came only a few weeks after their Europe Conference League success.

Speaking with talks after the victory, Boehly warned other teams not to underestimate Chelsea and praise manager and so Maresca.

“Well, we couldn't have wished for a better result for our boys, who did so good work and trained so hard, really came together in America under the leadership of Enzo and his direction,” he said.

'Nobody gave us the chance to beat PSG, and the boys really flourished and grew thereof. Seeing how they come together in America in recent weeks has been very special.

He added: 'We are just so excited and thank you that you have been held with us. We are really enthusiastic about what the future has in store. '

'We have always known that what happens on a certain day. The opportunities we thought we had and could compound with a piece or two …

“The boys really understand what Enzo has done. We are big believers, we always knew in the value of the project '.

The American said that the tournament was 'surrealistic' and 'difficult to digest'.

'But again, I think the thing that just made the day was how well the boys played.

“They really had nothing to lose and they put it there, they were so organized and so methodical, and the plan that Enzo had explained was done so well.

“So the combination of the planning and implementation could not have made me more proud.”

Speaking of the following season, Boehly said: “I think the boys have shown that they are a force to take into account, and I think that is what we hoped for.”

Chelsea players have earned a well-deserved peace and get three weeks off before they return to the preseason.

They have friendly matches against Bayer Leverkusen and AC Milan before they started their Premier League campaign against Crystal Palace on 17 August.

The blues will also return to the Champions League after three seasons.

And defender Levi Colwill has predicted that they will compete in their own country and in Europe after their latest trophy.

“At the start of this tournament I said that our plan is to win it and people looked at me as if I was crazy. So I'm going to say exactly the same thing that now goes to the Premier League and Champions League, “he said.

“This is the biggest trophy I have ever won. I think the Club World Cup will be larger than the Champions League and we were the first team to win.

'It was a statement victory and in the future, if we continue to win trophies, everyone will give us the love we deserve.
