Todd Boehly makes huge claim about split in Chelsea ownership over one key issue

Todd Boehly says he is in line with Clearlake Capital about the long -term strategy of Chelsea, but admits that a possible dispute about stadium plans can see them apart.

Todd Boehly believes that the owners of Chelsea can go their own way if they disagree about the club's plans for a new stadium. Chairman Boehly and majority owners Clearlake Capital clashed behind the scenes last summer and both parties explore the possibility of buying the other.

And although Boehly has said since that he and Clearlake Chief Bedhad Eghali “are tailored to what we are trying to do”, a possible dispute about leaving Stamford Bridge or redevelopment can still prove their endgame.

“We have to think about what we are trying to achieve in the long term,” Boehly told Bloomberg at a conference in Hong Kong. “We have a great chance for stadium development that we have to work out. And that is where we are tailored to whether we decide to go in different ways.”

Asked about the battle for control over the club, he added: “What was written about and talked about is much more drama than what actually happens.

“The status quo is something that is fine. We have learned from each other and we can really work it out in any way.”

Chelsea is fourth in the Premier League table with their priority a return to the Champions League for the first time since the new owners take over the takeover of Roman Abramovich in May 2022. Boehly believes that the value of the club has risen since they paid £ 2.5 billion to take over -based Russuction.

And more generally speaking about how things went under their term of office, which also spent more than £ 1 billion spent on the transfer market with a focus on tying young players to long contracts, Boehly continued: “If you look at the evolution of the team, we are tailored to what we try to do and what we try.

“It is a team that is young, it is a team that has long contracts. All these things were new. To do all these things we have done, it is because we are coordinated. There is the core stability and we implement on a plan that will eventually have Chelsea where it belongs. We are in the top four of the table.”

Chelsea is investigating the possibility of moving to a new site at the court of Earl and Boehly said: “It is really complex, but it is not as if we are building something in the middle of a rural environment. We have many constituencies to take care of it, for sure the fan base is one. Long -term will build something new and we will find out.”
