Tom Aspinall gives promising update on Jon Jones showdown after ‘fantastic’ meeting with UFC brass

Interim UFC heavyweight title holder Tom Aspinall's optimism about the Jon Jones fight turned a switch during a recent meeting.

Tom Aspinall's long waiting time for a confrontation with UFC Heavyweight Champion Jones led some people to believe that the fight would never be pronounced. But despite that feeling, Aspinall seems optimistic than ever that he will finally be against Jones in the Octagon later this year.

Aspinall has not fought anymore since a rare interim title defense against Curtis Blaydes on UFC 304 in July. He earned the interim strap by spending Sergei Pavlovich on UFC 295, a fight that came together in the short term after Jones withdrew from the event due to an injury.

Despite the roller coaster ride of the negotiations of Jones vs. Aspinall, it seems that we are about to get some big news about the next heavyweight title fight.

Tom Aspinall opens on 'Fantastic' meeting with UFC Brass in London

Jones initially spotted about the idea of faceing Aspinall prior to his fight with Stipe Miocic on UFC 309. After beating Miocic, Jones ran on his earlier pest for a return of 2025. Although he did not call an octagonide Asinall, the conversations finally started with the making of the heaviness.

During a recent vlog was uploaded to his YouTube channel, Aspinall seemed visibly frustrated by the state of the Jones Fight Talks. But after a meeting with one of the UFC heads last Saturday evening, Aspinall has a huge weight of his shoulders while he prepares for his return.

In a recent performance on the Ariel Helwani show, Aspinall opened during his recent meeting with UFC CBO Hunter Campbell this weekend in London.

“The photo was actually at the end of the meeting and believe it or not, that was probably about 2 hours in the morning,” Asinall shared. “We had a meeting … have a nice meal, kept everything. Hunter [Campbell] has always been extremely handsome and reasonable with me, I can't say what he is with other people, but with me and my team he has been nothing but hospitable …

“We had a fantastic meeting, everything went great. I understand my position now and I understand what the company is doing now, and you have to stay informed … some big news is coming.”

Aspinall was then asked about recent comments, he caused his patience to be thin for the Jones fight to flourish.

“I feel that we are in a good place now,” Aspinall said. “But in the first place I like to fight people, that's what I like to do. And if I don't do that, I feel a bit … I've not done that in the last seven months, but after the meeting I feel very optimistic about things and I am in a real, really good place with everything. My future continues and it is really exciting times.”

Aspinall's comments come after Jones led an explicit singing that was aimed at him during an appearance on a dirty boxing championship. Jones recently became a part-owner of the promotion guided by Mike Perry.

Tom Aspinall trolled Jon Jones during the Camera Cameo on UFC London

Aspinall got the last smile in his recent back and forth from far away with Jones, while he trolled Jones with a duck during a viral moment in UFC London. Jones has repeatedly been accused by Aspinall and Vecht fans of diving the British champion in favor of other opponents such as Alex Pereira.

Jones vs. Aspinall could possibly lead the annual International Fight Week event of the UFC if the reported training camp length of Jones can be negotiated. Jones reportedly wanted a six-month camp to prepare for the Aspinall fight, but at the moment Jones and his team have not confirmed the reports.

In the meantime, waiting continues for Jones vs. Aspinall to book a fight date, but things go in a positive direction for the two top heavyweights to clash.
