Tom Aspinall makes bold claim that he will fight ‘twice this year’ as he officially gives up on Jon Jones fight

Tom Aspinall would like to get the heavyweight division in motion after a daring statement about how active he wants to be in 2025.

The UFC heavyweight Titelsaga between Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall may finally be over with the interim champion who apparently has finished waiting for Jones' return.

Jones recently claimed that he, Aspinall and the UFC have an agreement and that they left it to the promotion to announce, making fans excitedly think it was with regard to fighting news.

Nevertheless, Aspinall came out shortly thereafter and claimed that Jones is retired and that he has a date for another fight.

Tom Aspinall claims that he will fight twice this year

At the moment, fans have become furious due to the lack of communication of the UFC about the potential heavy title Unification Fight, not only because it keeps the division on hold, but because it may waste the best years of Aspinall.

And with that the Brit has decided to officially give up waiting for Jones and has stated that he will fight twice this year while trying to keep the division moving.

“I am tired of talking about myself, I mean, I think it is pretty clear to see that Jon Jones has retired, he does not want to fight me. We naturally wish Jon the very best, but we want this heavyweight division to be active,” Aspinal told TNT Sports.

“We want to give these contenders the chance to fight, we want a title defender, isn't it? Why is this division so stagnating? Let's make the heavyweight division great again and have an active defensive UFC heavyweight champion, let's continue.

“I am ready to fight, I want to get two fights before the end of the year, so that's what we do. We finally have some movement, Jones has had a great career, I respect him, we know what he did … Have a good life, we're going further,” he went on.

Who will then fight Tom Aspinall?

Currently ranked number two in the heavyweight division is Ciryl Gane, who comes after a victory over Alexander Volkov.

Aspinall and Gane were previously associated with fighting, but the Frenchman rejected the fight while he wanted a fight in the ranking, when Aspinall was arranged lower than he was.

However, Aspinall has previously talked about the potential to combat Alex Pereira in the future, and according to the recent claim of Magomed Ankalaev that the Brazilian has rejected a rematch against him, his fans hopeful that 'Poatan' could not pass sufficiently at heavyweight.
