Tom Aspinall slams ‘uneducated’ viewers who believe Alex Pereira was robbed in Magomed Ankalaev defeat

Tom Aspinall did not stop fans who believe that Alex Pereira noded the jury's scorecards at UFC 313.

Alex Pereira's UFC Light Heavyweight Tit Reign came abruptly to UFC 313 when Magomed Ankalaev exhausted him by unanimous decision. It was Pereira's first light heavyweight loss of his MMA career and broke an undefeated line of five fights.

The rise from Ankalaev to the top of the UFC Light Heavyweight Division was questioned by some fans and experts after UFC 313. Although it was a back and forth fight from start to finish, a vocal suit of fans Pereira, and not Ankalaev, earned to get the nod.

Tom Aspinall states the perception of fans about Alex Pereira vs. Magomed Ankalaev scoring.

During a recent interview with Jamal Niaz, Aspinall responded to some viewers who scored UFC 313 in favor of Pereira.

“I can't believe people look at that fight and thought that Pereira won, it was just wild for me how many unskilled fans there are,” Aspinall said. “And how many unskilled fans there thought it was also a boring fight, I thought it was a great fight. Both boys did well and I think Ankalaev was just a lot better than he was in the night, that's it. “

Aspinall was then asked whether the switch from Pereira to heavyweight after UFC 313 is off the table.

“He could do what he wants, he is an absolute megastar,” Aspinall said about Pereira. “So I think there are fights to do on the middleweight, slightly heavyweight or heavyweight for him.”

Despite the fact that he initially teased a return to the middleweight to hire Drus du Plessis, Pereira is aimed at a likely immediate rematch against Ankalaev later this year. A heavyweight exercise stays on the table when he takes revenge on Ankalaev.

Alex Pereira's opportunities against Jon Jones endorsed despite the defeat of the UFC 313

Despite the loss at UFC 313, Chael Sonen believes that Pereira has a greater chance of beating Jon Jones in a potential heavyweight collision after presenting Elite Takedown defense. A common story about a Jones vs. Pereira -fight would be how Pereira would deal with Jones's elite struggling, but Sonen thinks the story is now crushed firmly.

If Pereira would overcome on UFC 313, he would have broken the light heavyweight record of Jones for the shortest time to reach four consecutive successful defending defenses. Jones left the light heavyweight title in 2020 to prepare for a full -time switch to heavyweight.

Pereira entertained the training together with Jones before Superfight conversations came between the two parties. Now Pereira is not going to train with Jones at any time as soon as he turns out to be a future switch to heavyweight.
