Tom Aspinall says that Demian Maia is the greatest Jiu-Jitsu practitioner in the history of UFC
Tom Aspinall believes that no one in the history of the UFC has shown better Jiu-Jitsu in mixed martial arts than Demian Maia.
The ADCC gold medal winner was downright frightening when he caught someone and showed huge skills to lock up frightening entries that had no choice but taps his opponents.
In a video that was uploaded to his YouTube channel, Aspinall said: “I'm going to go Demian Maia. I don't know what his references are in Jiu-Jitsu; there can be boys with better Jiu-Jitsu logging data than he outside MMA. I judge how effective they are in MMA, because the sport is over.
“Demian Maia, he was mainly a Jiu-Jitsu specialist, he didn't have much else in the closet. But he still caught up and submitted them.
“The thing that makes Demian Maia so good is that everyone knew what would come, but very limited amount of people could stop him. He is my Jiu-Jitsu goat in MMA.”
Demian Maia fought twice before the UFC title
The Jiu-Jitsu World Cup winner was a fantastic operator in his Prime. As Aspinall said, he may have had a limited amount of tools, but when his fighting hit the floor, he was downright frightening.
In his appreciated career, the Grappler fought twice for the UFC title, in losing efforts against Anderson Silva and Tyron Woodley.
Although those competitions did not go exactly as he intended, the Brazilian still put together a fantastic CV.
During his time in the world's prime minister mixed martial arts organization, he took an abundance of great victories and submitted Ben Askren, Carlos Condit and Matt Brown.
