Tom Aspinall’s teammate lands vicious KO to open up UFC Seattle card

UFC Light Heavyweight Modestas Bukauskas earned a brutal finish to open the return of the promotion to Seattle.

Interim UFC Heavyweight Champion Tom Aspinall's training partner, Modestas Bukauskas, UFC Seattle started with a bang.

Bukauskas and emerging prospect Raffael Cerqueira opened things in UFC Seattle on Saturday in the long -awaited return of the promotion to the Emerald City. It was a fight under the radar on the prelims with two light heavyweights with a high octane.

It was not long before Bukauskas came in a groove against Cerqueira.

Just a few minutes in the first round, Bukauskas landed a common left hand with Cerqueira on his feet. Bukauskas benefited from the opening by blushing Cerqueira with a flurry of punches.

Cerqueira did not respond to Bukauskas' Blitz and referee Jeff Hoiby came in quickly to stop the fight. After signing again with the UFC in 2023 after a victory of the Cage Warriors Championship, Bukauskas has won four of his last five fights back in the UFC agrag.

The first UFC stint of Bukauskas did not go according to plan when he went 1-2 in his first promotional term of office. But after having got a second chance, Bukauskas did not disappoint and got a step closer to a place in the top 15 with the victory in UFC Seattle.

Before UFC Seattle, Bukauskas recovered from a knockout loss to Vitor Petrino by tapping Marcin Prachnio on UFC 304 in July. He started his second UFC chapter with back-to-back decisive victories over Tyson Pedro and Zac Pauga.

Tom Aspinall vs. Jon Jones Fight Talks continue as summer approaches

As far as Aspinall is concerned, he remains in active negotiations with the UFC to view Jon Jones to unite the heavyweight titles later this year. The Aspinall vs. Jones Fight Talks have gotten stuck in recent weeks and UFC CEO Dana White threatened to strip Jones from his title if the negotiations do not claim.

White concluded a rumor that Jones wanted a $ 30 million salary to prevent Aspinall later this year. Jones teased retirement prior to UFC 309 in November, but turned after a brutal finish to steal Miocic.

At the moment the state of Jones vs. Aspinall uncertain. After UFC Seattle this weekend, White and the matchmakers will draw their attention to making one of the greatest heavyweight battles for bloom.
