Modestas Bukauskas is part of a whole team of powerhouse patients who train daily with the interim champion.
The UFC Light Heavyweight has not only benefited from a skill point when it comes to the work he has done alongside Tom Aspinall.
It is not always easy to get fights in the heavyweight and light heavyweight departments, given that they are two of the three smallest talent pools in the current UFC roster and that can lead to what wait.
While Bukauskas returns to Seattle on 22 February, we are still waiting for news about his training partner and what could be the biggest fight of the year.
In the past, Aspinall has made it clear that he is not sitting and remains to stand out whether he gets the chance to fight Jones or not and he uses this downtime wisely.
Modestas Bukauskas gets inspiration from the way Tom Aspinall kept his head down in the midst of Jon Jones Drama
Tom Aspinall will have been asked countless times when he fights against Jon Jones, but his way of dealing with was to continue progress in the gym.
This is something that Modestas Bukauskas was able to inspire by having several long fired without a fight booked in his career.
He told Bloody Elbow in a recently exclusive interview that seeing the way Aspinall behaves while he is most discussed about fighting in MMA hanging above his head, is a great source of motivation for his own career.
“The mentality of trying to enjoy every day as it is and tries to lead the pure life of an athlete. Tom literally embodies that whole pure mind, body and soul of an athlete and try to do everything to the NDE degree, tries to bring everything to the next level and tries to improve his skills, so yes, I certainly took a lot of lessons From him because he never falters.
“He always trains, even if the intensity is not that crazy, you are always going to try to learn, try to build … Tom, he will hopefully know at one point that he will have something on the horizon, so everything he can do At the moment it is that he will be ready for when that chance comes. “
Tom Aspinall immediately went back to work after his travels in New York
Things have been relatively quiet from the Tom Aspinall camp after the events of UFC 309 last November.
In the main event, Jon Jones successfully defended the heavyweight title against Stipe Miocic, but the headliner of Madison Square Garden did not dominate the discussion during the fight week.
Instead, with Aspinall present, much of the conversation was about whether the interim champion will fight the winner in a title Unification Bout along the line.
After he had only made some noise during the battle week due to his pure presence, the Brit returned home and immediately went back to work to prepare for a fight at the top of each MMA fans wish list.
