Tomiyasu out for the season after knee surgery

Takehiro Tomiyasu has undergone successful knee operation and will miss the rest of this season, Arsenal has confirmed.

The Japanese international played only six minutes this season for the side of Mikel Arteta and appeared in October as a late replacement against Southampton.

It is the second time during his arsenal career that Tomiyasu has a knee operation, which also goes under the knife in the 2022-23 campaign.

The 26-year-old, who also missed 13 games with a calf injury last season, will be put aside for the majority of the calendar year.

“Despite a first surgical procedure in August, followed by a return to full training, and as a replacement in our Home Premier League match against Southampton in October, Tomi continued to have problems with his knee, resulting in a further corrective surgical procedure,” “” Arsenal said in a statement on their official website.

“Tomi will now start with his recovery and rehabilitation program, which is expected to be completed by the end of this year.”
