Former interim light weight champion Tony Ferguson recently put an end to his epic UFC career.
'El Cucuy' currently has a loss series of eight fights. He was recently eliminated in August by Michael Chiesa at UFC Abu Dhabi before he felt Fight Fans by refusing to retire in the immediate aftermath.
Earlier this week, Tony Ferguson joined the Global Fight League, an action that shocked everyone, since the UFC has not yet confirmed its release.
The 40-year-old MMA legend was part of the GFL design, in which 120 fighters were divided into six teams that represented a large city in 10 weight classes. Tony Ferguson peaked with UFC title profit
It is known that Ferguson never fought before the undisputed UFC title, despite the fact that he managed to win a historic series of 12 fights at the height of his abilities.
However, he did get the chance to fight for UFC Gold when he took on Kevin Lee, who had won five consecutive fights to convince MMA fans that he was the next large lightweightwoman.
An interim title was at stake when they collided with each other during the UFC 216 main event in October 2017.
Ferguson won with a triangular narrowing in the third round to set up his fateful fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov, which never came about despite the fact that the bitter rivals were played against each other five times.
An injury disturbed their fourth planned fight and saw Ferguson stripped because of inactivity.
When he returned from his period on the sidelines, the UFC fan favorite took consecutive victories over Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone and Anthony Pettis to finally have his chance on the real lightweight title, which was in the possession of Nurmagomedov.
Unfortunately, a worldwide pandemic ensured that 'The Eagle' could not fly from Russia. Justin Gaethje intervened to replace him against Ferguson, who was damaged for five laps during the first defeat of his constant streak at UFC 249 in May 2020.
Kevin Lee calls for a rematch from Tony Ferguson
In the last years of his once promising MMA career, Lee has not done much better than Ferguson.
'The Motown Phenom' has lost five times and eliminated twice by the UFC since he fell short against Ferguson more than seven years ago.
Lee hopes to get his career back on track after he has reached the GFL and was called by the team from New York.
The 32-year-old recently went to social media to reveal how a personal tragedy influenced his career after he lost Ferguson-now Lee wants to have the opportunity to avenge that defeat and start his GFF-Run in the best possible way.
“My head coach died shortly after my title fight with @tonnyfergusonxt in 2017,” he tweeted on Friday.
“That brought my career in a whirlwind. This battle in 2025 will be about redemption.
“I lost my calmness and had emotion overcome my skills. This fight in @mmagfl will be different. Time to grab what is mine. “
