Although Spurs' defensive problems reared their heads again when Gordon restored parity just 140 seconds later and Isak then scored for a seventh straight league game.
Spurs hit the post through Brennan Johnson after the break, before James Maddison's curling effort went wide and Solanke sent a running header into the roof of the net late on.
However, Newcastle held firm and crossed the line after a long period of stoppage time in the second half to consolidate their place in fifth place, while Spurs remained in the bottom half.

Data Debrief: Alexander the Great
What a season it will be for Isak, who is undoubtedly the Premier League's in-form striker.
He became the third player to score in seven consecutive Premier League games for the Magpies, after Alan Shearer (September–November 1996) and Joe Willock (April–May 2021). Although Isak's goal came from close range, he still had to react sharply.
Gordon, meanwhile, has scored (two) or assisted (three) in each of his last five league appearances for Newcastle; he now has two goals and two assists against Tottenham in the Premier League – against no other team has he registered more goals in the competition.
Newcastle's number 10 will no doubt have impressed England boss Thomas Tuchel, who may also have liked what he saw from Solanke, who has scored more goals in the first five minutes of Premier League matches than any other player (four ) since the match. early last season.
Spurs piled on the pressure late on but only managed four shots on target and finished with 0.8 expected goals to Newcastle's 1.1.
