Tottenham fans turn on Tel after he broke their rule with social media post

Mathys Tel was forced to remove a post on social media and apologized to supporters after the Tottenham Vooruit unintentionally pulled the anger of the club's fan base.

The Deadline Day of the teenager on loan of Bayern Munich in the January window was seen as a large coup, given his impressive versions for the Bavarian Giants.

Despite the fanfare around his arrival in North Londs, Tel has to find the net in the Premier League and his latest social media post has done little to assert the French youth international to the Spurs Faithful.

On Thursday, Tel shared a series of images with his Instagram account, including one of him who bore a shirt with the name and the number of Fulham star Willian.

The post led to an immediate return of supporters online, where Willian had previously placed his trade for Spurs' Bitter Rivals Arsenal.

To make matters worse, the Brazilian was planned to join Tottenham from Anzhi Makhachkala in the summer of 2013 during the regime of Andre Villas Boas in the club.

After completing a medical prior to relocation to Tottenham, Willian eventually had a last-minute change of heart and instead went a member of Chelsea, where he would win two Premier League titles during a seven-year-old stint.

The 36-year-old would later describe Snubbing Spurs as the 'best decision' of his career.

“I wasn't sure of Chelsea,” Willian told the club's website in 2022.

“They had shown interest, but in the beginning it wasn't that strong. Chelsea came on the day I started signing the contract with Spurs. I was on the Tottenham training field to complete the deal when the call came. My agent said to me: “Chelsea just called me and they want you”. I said, “Ok, I want to go there!”

'Then I left the training field and went back to the hotel. It was a difficult situation because I had more or less agreed to become a member of Spurs, but in my mind only Chelsea was.

'As soon as the deal between Anzhi and Chelsea had agreed, I just wanted to go there. It was the best decision of my career. '

As such, the photo of Tel turned out to be enormously controversial under Spurs fans, with one writing: “Is Mathys Tel on a way?”

Another added: “This club, no leaders at all, the worst season I've ever seen, players love messages from a player who scored and defeated and now counts a Judas shirt, touches everything.”

A third agreed, writing: “WTF I am looking.”

A number of Spurs fans jumped to the defense of Tel and noted that the teenager would have been only eight years old at the time of Willian's Snub.

The post was quickly removed with count later explained in an Instagram remark that he was not aware of the controversial history.

He wrote: “Ahaha sorry my bad guys I didn't know.”

Tel has made seven games in all the competitions since he came to Spurs and has made his first goal for the club in a FA Cup Fourth Round defeat against Aston Villa.

Ange Postecoglou's side returns to action on April 3, traveling to Stamford Bridge to the face of Chelsea.
