Tottenham has only included two of their three January -sets in their updated Europa League team prior to the knockout phases.
Spurs achieved their place in the last 16 of the Europa League with a fourth place in the competition phase and bypassed the play-off round in a postponement for their luminaire schedule.
The club has now provided their updated selection that is completely valid until the final in Bilbao on 21 May – but were allowed to make only a maximum of three additions, according to the rules of UEFA.
After making a trio of remarkable senior acquisitions during the winter window, there was a possibility that all three would be integrated into Spurs' Europa League plans for the second half of the campaign.
However, Ange Postecoglou has chosen to leave one of his new signing sessions from the team, prefering the addition of a home -grown talent.
Czech goalkeeper Antonín Kinsky has been omitted from the team, despite the fact that it has been an ever -present fixture in the side since his arrival of £ 12.5 million from Slavia Prague at the start of the year.
Postecoglou leaves the 21-year-old road in favor of the regular number one Guglielmo Vicario, who is expected to return from a long-term injury in the coming weeks.
Brandon Austin, who only earned his second club performance in the 3-2 victory over Hoffenheim during the competition phase, is chosen as a backup of Vicario.
In the meantime, Kevin Danso and Mathys have been included in the team after their respective winter movements of RC -Lens and Bayern Munich. Both debuted from Spurs to Liverpool in the miserable midweek trip, where the Reds Riot ran to end up 4-0 winners in the second stage of their semi-final of Carabao Cup.
Djed Spence has also earned his place in the updated selection – Pipping Kinsky to the third and last place – with his versatility this term that appears to be invaluable for Postecoglou in the midst of the non -repellent injury crisis of the club.
The update in the selection has forced Postecoglou to browse three of his stars for the Restder Continental campaign.
Fraser Forster, Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin are no longer eligible for the Europa League of this season, with the latter included the worst average rating of a player in the competition phase of the competition, according to Sofascore.
Spurs wait to discover their opponents for the last 16 and can be confronted with one of the real Sociedad, Galatasaray, AZ Alkmaar or Midtjylland, depending on who goes through the play-offs.
The side of Postecoglou will discover their opponents when the Europa League draw will be made on 21 February.
