Tottenham did an investigation into the Alejandro Garnacho of Manchester United after missing Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich.
United is willing to sell for around £ 60 million in the midst of interest from Chelsea and Napoli.
It is unclear whether Garnacho would consider moving to Tottenham at this stage.
The Late move Van Spurs for the Argentinian winger comes only a few hours after a movement for Bayern Winger Tel. The Noord -Londers had reached a £ 50 million agreement with Bayern about the player, so that conversations between Tel and his agent were left as the last obstacle to get a deal over the line.
Tottenham -President Daniel Levy was reportedly in Bavaria to 'accelerate conversations' for the French international, wanted to move forward while other Premier League outfits breathed in their necks.
Tel has a number of offers on the table and it was thought that playing time would be the key for his decision, with his decision to stop at Bayern who comes out of grace under Vincent Kompany.
That is something that Tottenham could have offered, because their team is still being destroyed by injuries. Dominic Solanke is out for six weeks, while Wilson Odobert, Brennan Johnson and Timo Werner are currently also sidelined.
But with personal terms the latest obstacle to getting the transfer over the line, counted the move in the latest blow to Tottenham.
Garnacho has since continued to do lasting performance for United, even though it is on the chopping block this month. The 20-year-old made an impact of the bank in the 2-0 victory of United on Steaua Bucharest on Thursday evening.
In total he has made 121 performances for United since he made his debut as a 17-year-old in 2022.
Mail Sport reported last Thursday that Chelsea brought forward a formal offer for Garnacho and that the Stamford Bridge -outfit had a clear run to sign him, where Napoli turned their attention to Borussia Dortmund -star Karim Adeyemi.
Napoli had previously failed with several offers for Garnacho, despite offering a maximum of £ 50 million. In the meantime, Chelsea did their opening investigations earlier this month, to which United responded by beating a price tag of £ 65 million on the former Starlet of Atletico Madrid.
The agents of Garnacho Carlos Cambeiro and Quique de Lucas were seen last Monday during the Chelsea match against Wolves. They are supposed to be open to the idea that their customer is moving to London.
