Manchester City would like to add to their defensive ranks after what a difficult season has been under Pep Guardiola, but their move for a Premier League star looks difficult
Tottenham will resist every movement for Destiny Udogie this summer. Manchester City has been associated with a movement for the left of Italy, but Udogie is probably on a long list instead of their NO1 target.
That is partly because Tottenham does not want to sell a player that they strongly judge despite a season that is disturbed by injuries. Udogie, 22, also has for four years to a contract and would be incredibly difficult to come from Tottenham with chairman Daniel Levy, a notoriously difficult negotiator.
It means that every potential deal is very unlikely this summer, where Udogie is also looking for its best form, fitness and top performances for traces.
Italy International Udogie was one of the striking artists for Tottenham last season and was on the shortlist among the Premier League players of the year.
Tottenham was hit by injuries this season – including Udogie that is again fit for the run – in – but that did not help under pressure manager Ange Postecoglou.
But internally, Udogie is still highly regarded and seen as a brilliant piece of company that joined Udinese in 2022 with only £ 15 million before he spends another year in Italy and then arrives at Spurs in 2023. City wants to rebuild this summer and new director of football Hugo Viana evaluates goals.
Juventus defender Andrea Cambiaso is still considered the first choice of the city left behind despite the admiration for Udogie. Viana started working this week officially with city planning for another large window that the bank broke in January to stimulate their team for manager Pep Guardiola.

They have been largely successful in the market, in which Omar Marmoush comes to the attention in advance, but they will probably want to strengthen an aging team even further.
They have already borrowed Kyle Walker from AC Milan, while Josko Gvardiol always excelled in the left, in the middle and as an inverted entire back.
