Tottenham players send emotional messages to Ange Postecoglou following his ruthless sacking

Multiple Tottenham Hotspur players have posted emotional tribute on Ange Postecoglou after his resignation on Friday afternoon.

Postecoglou's time as Spurs manager was ruthlessly ended by the board only 16 days after he had led his team to victory in the UEFA Europa League final.

However, the season ended with a 4-1 home defeat by Brighton. That was the 22nd loss of Tottenham from a gloomy Premier League campaign, so that they only finished one place above the relegation zone.

Tottenham published a club statement of 368 words on Friday and thanked Postecoglou for his work, but also claimed that the board had voted 'unanimously' that a manager change was the best way.

Later on Friday, Spurs immediately went back Pedro Porro to Instagram and posted three photos of himself and Postecoglou together with a sincere message.

“Thank you for everything, Baas,” started Porro's message. 'Because I guided myself early, helped me to settle in the club and trust myself in the field.

'I will always be grateful for the way you led us, defended us and kept us through all the highlights and lows.

'Above all you gave us one of the greatest moments in the history of the club and you will always be celebrated for that. I wish you the very best, Boss'.

Striker Richarlison added: 'Sir, huge thanks for helping and believing in me during one of the most difficult periods of my career and my life.

'That night in Bilbao was the highlight of two years of hard work, dedication and relying faith in a dream. There were many challenges to overcome and a lot of noise that is accompanied by trying to achieve what many said was not possible.

'We have also laid foundations that mean that this club does not have to wait 17 years for their next success. I have enormous faith in this group of players and know that it contains much more potential and growth.

“I really want to thank those who are the life -made of the club, the supporters. I know there were some difficult times, but I always felt that they wanted me to succeed and that gave me all the motivation I needed to continue.

'It is important to recognize the hard -working people at Spurs who gave me every day.

'And finally I want to thank those who have been with me every day for the past two years. A fantastic group of young men who are now legends of this football club and the brilliant coaches who have never doubted that we could do something special.

“We are connected forever. Audere Est Facere. '
