A second Tottenham player has been forced to close a social media account this season after being insulted by fans in the aftermath of a London derby defeat.
Brennan Johnson quit Instagram after receiving criticism online for his perceived poor performance in September's north London derby defeat to Arsenal.
Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou jumped to his player's defense and said the online trolls deserve a 'punch in the nose'.
And after Tottenham threw away a two-goal lead against Chelsea on Sunday to lose 4-3, one of Johnson's teammates has followed suit by closing his social media account – this time after receiving a backlash to one of his posts.
Pedro Porro re-shared a stat posted to '
In response, the Spaniard received a barrage of insults from fans angry at the post following the defeat to their rivals.
@FUTSPY wrote: 'What a shame, his defensive negligence removes all his offensive contributions, leaving him with a net contribution of zero.'
While @jackcolegolf posted: 'Gotta be more proud of trying to keep clean sheets since he's a 'defender'. It's all well and good, but first and foremost, do your job.'
Porro, who played every minute of the home loss, then decided to close his X account.
Next up for Tottenham is an all-British match with Rangers at Ibrox in the Europa League on Thursday, before taking on Southampton in the Premier League on Sunday.
