Tottenham's preparations for Thursday night's Europa League match with Hoffenheim were disrupted when fireworks were set off outside their hotel at 2am.
Mail Sport understands that a series of loud explosions, which lasted for about five minutes, woke many of the traveling party at the complex, about 30 minutes outside the village in southwestern Germany, on Thursday morning.
While a small portion of the group continued to sleep over, the majority saw their sleep disrupted by the antics, which insiders say is becoming increasingly common ahead of European matches abroad.
Ange Postecoglou's side face the hosts knowing victory would significantly boost their chances of a top eight finish and automatic qualification.
It would also mean they can avert a two-legged knockout tie in February, which could prove valuable given an injury crisis that is beyond expectations.
While it may be a minor irritation, the disruption adds to an already difficult situation for Tottenham.
While vice-captain Cristian Romero returned to training ahead of this match, Postecoglou will be without as many as 10 first-team players, while three others have not registered.
The Spurs boss even made light of the situation during the pre-match press conference as his translator struggled to clear his throat. “Even my translator is injured,” the Australian joked.
