Tottenham -director Johan Lange gave the new UEFA Tournament format the blame for the Slow Transfer transactions of the club last month.
During the January window, the North -London side made three signing sessions in the form of Antonin Kinsky, Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel -who came to the club on the Deadline Day.
Together with the last-minute movement of Tel Sealed Spurs also their loan (with an option to buy) for defender Danso in the last days of the transfer window.
Given the current injury crisis at the club, many Spurs fans had hoped that the club would have sorted their transfer trade earlier in the window. That was not the case.
Lange explained the situation at Spursplay: 'As a club we would have liked to do all the signing sessions on January 1. We were ready to do that. But it's not as easy as that.
'In January, in particular, the dynamics changed a bit. We are not the only team that has injuries. And there is the dynamics of the new European format.
'This means that the clubs that compete in Europe had to play group matches in January, which is never the case.
'Normally clubs would know their fate in those matches by December. But the fact is that there are now two group competitions in the last part of January, as well as more teams that go through the group stage to the play-off phases.
“And those things mean that clubs are more cautious. And it's about finding the right players – not just the first players available. “
Spurs made the signing of goalkeeper Kinsky of Slavia Prague in the opening week of the window, but fans had to wait a while before their other two acquisitions.
The club looked like they would miss Bayern Munich Mathys Tel – after he had initially rejected a move to North Londs.
After a discussion with head coach Ange Postecoglou, however, the French young person quickly changed thoughts and agreed to the move.
The loan agreement comes with an option to buy for Spurs, but the player will have the last say or the move will be permanent.
Tel also revealed the key role that Harry Kane played to convince him to join Tottenham to the Deadline Day.
In a video that was released on the official X account of Tottenham, Tel was asked if he had talked about the club with Kane.
Tel replied: 'He told me that this is a big club with many very good people. The field is very nice, the training center is very good and if you go there you can enjoy it.
“Everything was positive by Harry Kane.”
