Tottenham trio Maddison, Bergvall and Gray want Postecoglou to stay

Tottenham players James Maddison, Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray all want Ange Postecoglou to stay in the club.

Despite the end of the 17-year-old trophy-dried of Spurs by winning the Europa League, a 17th place in the Premier League held the pressure on Postecoglou.

A 4-1 defeat against Brighton on the last day of the season meant that Spurs was the first team in the English history of top flight that lost 22 games in a 38-game season and avoided relegation.

Speaking on his charity wave day, who collects money for three different charities, Maddison said that he hopes that the team will continue to win with Postecoglou at the helm.

“Yes, he has been brilliant,” Maddison told Sky Sports News.

'Even at the start of the season, saying' I usually don't win things [in my second season]I always win things'. It is one of them. We knew that that would create a big stir in the media, where you never struck it. But I never stopped believing that he meant that.

“Managers and clubs can go for long periods without winning trophies, but he is a man who has always been successful. His greatest strength is his self-confidence in what he does, and that feeds us in us. This year is installed in Europe in all out-games, even those in the group phase.

“It is a difficult competition to win. We have succeeded in reaching the line with the Gaffer, all together, we all as a club, we all win together. Hopefully that, as the Gaffer said, can keep the feeling, and we now have that winning feeling and we know what is needed to win.”

Midfielders Bergvall and Gray also spoke about their willingness to keep working under the Australian manager.

When asked how much he wants to stay postcoglou, Bergvall said: “100%.

“I think he did great. It has not been easy for someone of ours, especially because of all the injuries, but as he said, he always wins things in his second year, and that is true.”

Gray added: “It has been a great season this year and it has also been a roller coaster of a season.

“We have had a number of really difficult times and we stayed together.

“He is great in things like family, and I think that was the most important thing that helped us get the final and to win the final is our moral of how we are as a team.

“We believe in each other, and we were as brothers who went on the field in the final.”
