Trent Alexander-Arnold breaks down in tears during Liverpool’s trophy parade

Trent Alexander-Arnold called the water works for the second consecutive day when Liverpool celebrated their 20th Premier League title with an open-top bus parade on Monday.

The departing defender was in tears during the trophy celebrations on his side the day before, after he had fitted in red one last time, the curtains pulled on his 20-year term of office in Anfield.

Liverpool was crowned champion in the first season of Arne Slot at the end of April, but had to wait until the last game of the season to get the trophy physically in his hands.

Virgil van Dijk lifted the silverware on Anfield for a full crowd, and the Reds players and the staff went on the streets of Liverpool on Monday while thousands stood the paths and roads.

But the tears of vice-captain Alexander-Arnold did not come up with sympathy of every Liverpool fan, with some on social media accusing him of acting.

Despite the right back that received a warm farewell in his last game, there has been a widespread anger around the nature of his exit as a free agent, who culminated that he was booed earlier this month for the home of Liverpool against Arsenal.

On Monday, Alexander-Arnold was comforted by teammate Mohamed Salah, while he took the love of Liverpool fans one last time.

Salah hit his arm around the 26-year-old, with Dominik Szoboszlai also comfort his colleague.

But the emotions of Alexander-Arnold were met by fans on social media, with someone who accused him of walking 'crocodile tears'.

One fan on x wrote: “Not those crocodile tears again.”

“Attention seeker if you ask me,” spotted someone else.

A third added: “Don't think he gives off ***, just take the little rat for the last time.”

A fourth said, “He's really a good actor.”

The players of Liverpool – who were partying until midnight – were greeted on Monday by thousands of supporters, with Crewe Station covered with singing supporters trying to get on a train.

After the 20th league title of Liverpool was added to their champions wall, fans started to arrive for the parties, which are already attracting torches, balloons and traffic lights.

Some supporters were outside the Shankly Gates while the start of the parade, about two hours from the start, waited.

It was a terrible day in the city, but that did not stop the fans in their number.

Confetti fell from heaven while the team continued to agree through the city, chased by a group of police while fans chased them on the path.

The Liverpool bus for the Parade was covered with the word 'champions', with an image of the Premier League trophy and the word 'Ours Again' too.

Torches are supposed to be not allowed on a number of trains in the city, but that did not stop that fans let them go when the parade passed.

Cody Gakpo again put on his shades with a lateral cap, and Ibrahima Konate led one dance while the bus continued to find the way.

Reds -owner John W Henry closed off while he took his place on the bus and possibly questioned the British again.

As more and more fans arrived, Alexander-Arnold was shown with his arms in the back of the bus, with Dominik Szoboszlai, wet hair hanging over his face and held an inflatable trophy.

Gakpo then took on it to show off the adjusted WWE belt of Liverpool, which was high while he kept it above his head.

Players took the turn of lifting the trophy – some stopped by others on top of the bus. The rain kept falling, fans kept waving their flags. Some were behind barriers and had signs as a means to pass on their congratulations to the players.

The parade followed a 10 -mile route. It started in Allerton Maze, on the way to the north along Queens Drive in a similar route like that in 2019 – when the Reds won their last league title.
