Trent Alexander-Arnold, Real Madrid and Liverpool position on bombshell transfer

Trent Alexander-Arnold is Real Madrid's No.1 Summer Transfer target because he can leave Liverpool on a free transfer, with his contract in Anfield Set to expire on 30 June

Real Madrid is convinced that Trent Alexander-Arnold lands, while the Spanish giants try to complete a deal for Liverpool right back. But the deal is not done yet, because the Reds still have to be informed and still want the player to stay.

However, they can be confronted with a losing struggle. Alexander-Arnold, 26, is from a contract at the end of the season and is free to talk to clubs outside of England. Discussions with Real took place after the Spanish side did not attempt to sign the player in January.

Real has kept an eye on the situation for more than 12 months, since the player's contract went into the last 18 months. The international England has also had discussions with Liverpool since last year.

But Real is now going to complete a deal to sign it on a free transfer this summer. The Reds are confronted with losing Alexander-Arnold with Virgil van Dijk and Mo Salah also from contract at the end of the campaign.

Van Dijk and Salah have openly said that they want to stay in Anfield, but still have to agree.

Earlier this month, Reds Captain Van Dijk said that he still has “no idea” if he will stay in the club, while Salah also doubts several times about his future.

Alexander-Arnold kept his cards close to his chest and did not want his future to take place in public. But now it seems more likely than ever that his 20-year-old association could end with the club.

Alexander-Arnold joined the Liverpool academy at the age of six, after he grew up near the former training field of the club in Melwood.

The club's vice-captain will win a second Premier League title this season after he won the Champions League in 2019, while he also won the FA Cup and two Carabao Cups.
