UFC fan favorite Adrian Yañez made his first public comments since a loss to Daniel Marcos at UFC Tampa.
Adrian Yañez's bid to return to the bantamweight Top 15 failed against Daniel Marcos at UFC Tampa. After three rounds of competitive action, Yañez lost by split decision, forcing his third fight over his last four outings.
Yañez's loss was further complicated by a nasty eye sting he suffered early in the fight. After Marcos accidentally poked Yañez in the eye, the former Dana White's Contender Series standout appeared to have issues with his timing on the feet and was unable to withstand Marcos' barrage.
Although the score of the fight was debatable, the damage Yañez suffered was too great to overcome late. But despite the eye poke, Yañez doesn't blame the foul for the loss.

Adrian Yañez reveals 'eye burned' after mid-fight poke at UFC Tampa
In a recent message to X, Yañez addressed the controversial loss at UFC Tampa.
“Big shoutout to everyone who supported me: trolls gonna troll, it is what it is,” Yañez said. “The real homies stay next to me…I could blame the eye poke, the vision was blurry, the eye was burning, but I kept fighting, that shit is on me…nobody else can be blamed but me.
“The fight was close, let it slip away, boys. I try to put on firecrackers every time, my apologies guys. But shoutout to everyone who still supports me, I love you.”
Competing at UFC Tampa, former DWCS standout Yañez earned a first-round TKO against Vinicius Salvador in May. He overcame the first two losses of his UFC tenure, following recent losses to Jonathan Martinez and Rob Font.
Yañez burst into the bantamweight Top 15 after wins over Tony Kelley, Davey Grant and Randy Costa. He earned post-fight performance bonuses in each of his first five UFC wins.
Adrian Yañez looks to avoid another series of losses after UFC Tampa
The 31-year-old Yañez remains a talented bantamweight to watch in 2025. His boxing is among the best in the bantamweight division and makes him a matchup nightmare for many rising 135 pounders.
Before earning a contract through DWCS, Yañez made a name for himself in promotions like LFA and Fury FC. At the time of writing, he is 17-6 in his professional career.
Yañez will look to bounce back in a big way in his next UFC appearance. In the meantime, he'll try to heal and look forward to another potentially high-profile year in the Octagon.
