Troy Deeney has called on Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim to flog one player immediately after he once again failed to impress in Thursday's defeat to Tottenham.
The player in question has not come close to living up to the expectations that accompanied his move to the Premier League in 2022.
The winger's performances are regularly lamented by United fans, who are frustrated by his poor performances and inability to keep up with the intensity of the English top flight.
Deeney has now urged Amorim to cut ties with Antony as soon as possible and send away the £85million Brazilian he inherited from the Erik ten Hag era.
“As soon as Manchester United took Antony away, everyone started running,” Deeney told CBS Sports.
'They need to cut ties with him. I don't want to scapegoat him, but honestly it's so frustrating to watch him.
'This is your big moment. He doesn't run, he doesn't sprint – just get him out. If you lose Marcus Rashford, whoever takes him, we will pay you to take him [Antony] also. Get him out of the club.”
United saw their Carabao Cup campaign come to an end at the hands of Spurs on Thursday evening, with defensive mistakes proving costly in a 4-3 defeat.
The Red Devils trailed 3-0 at one point with no hope of a comeback in sight, but got a way back into the match when Fraser Forster produced two howlers in seven minutes, reducing the deficit with twenty minutes to play to one.
Heung-min Son scored straight from a corner to allay fears of a Spurs collapse in north London, but that didn't stop Deeney from charging into Ange Postecoglou's 'backward' side as he nearly threw away a three-goal lead.
“Tottenham were so in control: 60 minutes, 3-0 and Manchester United had nothing,” Deeney added.
“They had to use three substitutes and they probably didn't even want to use those guys, let's be honest, and Tottenham were in a situation where they were applying pressure.
“Going to your goalkeeper should be like going to your goalkeeper to get to the other side of the play, so if you can pass him on the right side he will take a tap with his right foot and play it out with his left foot. foot, and you just keep making that team run.
'They didn't do that. They took five, six, seven touches, tried to score, they tried to play with a high line and just create pressure. Tottenham's defenders rushed forward.
'You learn that when you are four or five: no pressure on the ball, stop, withdraw, give space. They do everything backwards.'
