Daniel Cormier Question marks Pereira's decision to make Strickland on UFC 312 too angular
With Strickland, controversial earned a rematch with 'Still Knocks', even though he has only won a victory over Paulo Costa since their last fight, he hopes to rewrite the mistakes of his last fight.
And by doing that, he has set up in the help of 'Patan', who will be part of his corner team in Sydney, Australia.
Although the 37-year-old champion agrees to help his teammate, his decision was questioned by the former UFC Double Champion, Commentator, Daniel Cormier.
'DC' has wondered if it is wise for the Brazilian to travel all over the world to be in Strickland's Hoek when he had to prepare for his own title fight.
On UFC 313 on March 8, Pereira will defend his title of 205 pounds against his most difficult test so far in number one competition, Magomed Ankalaev.
With his fight against the rising Russian so close to UFC 312, Cormier believes that Pereira takes a “dangerous” decision that he can regret.
“What we do know is that Alex Pereira is going to fight against a man who could be his most formidable opponent because of the style,” Cormier began to explain on his YouTube channel.
“But we must also take effect that his relationship with Strickland is so strong that he is willing to travel the world to get him in the corner. For me it seems dangerous.
“It seems risky for Alex to go all the way to Australia, knowing everything that goes into a training camp and how hard that travel can be on your body when you prepare to continue to defend your world championship.
“So how strong is that band? How much does Sean Strickland now mean for Alex Pereira to take that risk? Because believe me, it's a risk, “he went on.
Alex Pereira continues to switch to heavyweight teasing
Before the UFC booked its title defense against Ankalaev, 'Patan' constantly hinted to possibly go to heavyweight to assume Jon Jones in a superfight.
Although interim champion, Tom Aspinall is still convinced that a title -one can be made, wants to shake things up by fighting 'bones'.
If Jones remains to fight against Aspinall, even though he has admitted that he would not like the idea and will probably retire instead, Peeira will keep a close eye on it, because he may face the winner to see.
